Art Critique
Description- While looking at the Painting you see different colors and
different shades of the same color. It does follow the title ”Starry Night”,
you see the moon, the night, some stars, maybe some houses at the bottom of the
picture, then some kind of statue of tree on the left of the picture. It looks
like when he was painting me made the sky have a swirl with the blues, or maybe
he’s trying to emphasize the wind blowing during the of the painting. This is a Vincent Von Gogh painting, ‘Starry
Night’, it was made in 1889, The medium is an oil on canvas. This is a
beautiful painting all in all.
Analysis- You look at this painting and you see
that the way the strokes go the move towards the right. The emphasize on the
wind was a good touch and the was that the whole paining is he did a perfect
job in putting that there with the way the whole artwork flows. The shape of
the stars is repetitive, but the size of the stars re different, some are small
the some are bigger than others. You can also tell they are stars because when
you look at the moon in the top right corner you can tell the smaller circles are the ones
being played as the stars. It looks like a two dimensional painting you only see
one face to all of the objects in the picture.
Interpretation- This artwork looks like he was up
late at night looking out his window. The message could be that he doesn’t
sleep well at night an does painting to keep him calm and try to ease his way
to sleep. I’m just going to take a guess that sleeping hasn’t been the best for
him and that he’s a visual painter, meaning he needs to see something in order
to paint it. Then he puts his own emphasizing to add more to what he was
seeing, like the wind that I talked about in the description. I think his interpretation
of things he thinks, he’s good at putting it into his art.
Judgement- All in all I really liked the painting.
The artwork looks more lean or slanted, like it looks like the wind took over
the whole direction of the work. It looks really calming and relaxing, like as
if he wrote it when he was in a good mood or in a calm phase of the day. I don’t
know the idea of the work, but it looks peaceful, it doesn’t show that he was
in a bad place of anything, more like he was in a good place. This is one of my
favorites by Vincent.
